Finally Use of Electronic Wallet … Time Saver as Jogging season kicks in … Friday before week of Travels

It’s Friday …. How about a non-financial … fun education personal experience …. Let’s go!

With a challenge from several friends for a half Marathon in the fall (13.2 miles) the jogging arm band for the cell in order to listen the afore mentioned podcasts is in full motion.

Most joggers, present party included hate ANY type of pockets, or any items that would bounce/chafing as the jog continues….. aka no wallet or cash or credit card !

Post a jog … in a familiar place the front of the grocery line and without a form of payment…. A mandated new transaction was on (hunger over technology embarrassment)

Meet the Cell Phone Wallet

The growling stomach and the few fellow shoppers over the shoulder mandated a Wallet payment attempt…. yaa yaa probably a lot of you already know this, but I bet a few were similar and only put their boarding pass in their Wallet….

Looks like this:

You can put more than just boarding passes… i.e. Payment Cards…

Pick the one you use and push the phone towards the checkout device (luckily this was a feature…sure not all devices have this) a face or code is entered on the cell ….. and boom, transaction completed (at least that is what happened, was the first!)

Speaking of Boarding Passes… Next week Garners (Happily) mid-week travels…. but always tethered by electronics ….

Talk next week – some from afar- but still talk!

Enjoy your Friday and weekend!

Cell Phone Replacement … How Many Passwords Can a Cell Phone Have? … Friday

With travels hopefully opening up … a rather old Cell AND the opportunity to get jet speed coverage (5G+ which I have yet to see connected…grrrr) … longer battery life, the switch was on!

Not sure if the prior switch was smoother or maybe it is our obsession with security i.e. Two Factor Authentication, Authenticators, Face Recognition…

Sure know why they give you 30 days to turn your old cell in!

EEEEEKKKKKKKKKKKKK

The amount of Passwords from emails, to websites to log ins is staggering… have them all, but just when the thought of the coast is clear…. “Please Enter Your XXXX!”

Ya, ya, all real world problems, but sure will not upgrade the cell anytime soon again – Wow!

Next week we say good bye to January … a Month End Video is in the cards with some hopeful Inflation analysis, unless of course some thing more important jumps to the front of the line…

Ahhhh…. but that is next week, today is a Friday heading into a weekend… hopefully a chance to wish my 94 year old Father Happy Belated Birthday in person without the family being non symptomatic !

Have a Great Friday and weekend!

Amazed How Seamless Virtual Became Reality! … A Cell Phone Comparison

Do you remember your first experience with a Cell Phone ?

Not talking to the youngsters here – haha – you guys should read what happened though!

At first someone else had a cell phone, and they were likely seen as braggers or show offs….mobile-phone-246906__480

Slowly (over years) the stigma subsided and the cost of a cell phone began dropping with incremental speed of use and additional features.

Do you know anyone who does not have a cell phone? Probably Not

Virtual Was Pushed On Us and We Did Just Fine

This week on a Quarterly Earnings Call, a publicly traded company that is directly in the middle of Virtual said…

“In Two Months Over Two Years of Integration in Virtual Just Occurred”

Isn’t that pretty cool!

We should all pat ourselves on the back!

Only thing needed is an internet connection …  most phones now double as Hotspot … trouble easily averted

Stigma is Gone on Virtual meetings and get together’s …

Countless talk by tons of Smaller offices …

Less Travel Expense …

Yea, maybe a bit more impersonal …

Nothing will ever replace Face To Face, a nice hug or handshake !!

Given the circumstances … nice welcomed pivot!

Have a Great “Virtual Embraced” Day!

Welcome to our monthly review, which includes a video for further clarity and a lighter touch to the world of finance. At the beginning of this year we also added a special financial planning monthly tip to break up the monotony. Let’s get started.

Cell Phone Pricing Wars Means Money In Your Pocket

This months financial planning tip came by accident from our own personal experience. Earlier this year the big two cell phone carriers commenced in a pricing war. Our discovery, originally from an investor standpoint, soon turned consumer. After multiple confirmations other than just ourselves, we feel certain we are on to something.Price War

The trick of this discovery is  you must log into your carrier and review your current plan. So far by pointing this out we have helped with several thousand dollars of savings.  Next time you pay your bill, take 30 extra seconds and click on your current plan, you may find significant saving are available.

Taxes – The Toughest Season in A Decade

This years taxes are the perfect storm for the following reasons.

  1. Tax payer relief act has sunset, diminishing many relief items.
  2. Phase Outs (restrictions of tax write-offs) are making for higher taxes due.
  3. AMT (alternative minimum tax) is making it’s presence known.
  4. Basis reconciliation is still troubling.Income Tax

This year, do not feel bad if your taxes are greater than years past and it is taking longer. The entire financial community has been slowed by this year’s tax season.

Market and Economic update

As mentioned in our cover letter and Q 2 2014 Newsletter, both on the presses and cyber ramp currently, the capital markets have gone no where so far this year. Bonds, the lumbering giants of safety have been the real winner in March as well as through the first quarter of the year.

Spring Break Hump Day … Money Saving Cell Phone Tip

Ok…so I couldn’t leave the keyboard alone for the spring break week, but the writings are fun and fortunately this is never work to me. Yesterday I even had a lengthy interview with a reporter from ABC News, again a fun work related event, that if printed, I will let you know. Hope you enjoy the following “light” post from afar on Hump Day of Spring Break!

AT&T Wireless threw the official first punch by a wireless giant several weeks ago. Now with other wireless carriers (Verizon) following, you may find extra dollars in your pocket, if you request a change.

Cell Phone Price Wars = SavingsPrice War

Recently AT&T (my carrier) announced about a 33% decrease in some base plan rates.

Here is the Trick:

In order to have my personal bill lowered, I needed to log into my account on-line and choose the new plan pricing option. While not complicated, it did take action by myself to complete the transaction.

As an investor, this lower price is not always great due to the pressures on margins and the possible commoditization of services, however as a consumer this is a nice break.

Check it out….hopefully you will have the same savings! Every penny counts!

Have a Great Day!
