ES Payments for Q4 of 2021 Due On Tuesday January 18th Day AFTER Bank/Market Holiday

Happy Friday …. We made it safely to the end of the first full week of the new year! yay

Early this week the following email from the IRS hit our inbox in timely form, so we wanted to share!

IRS reminder to many: Make final 2021 quarterly tax payment by Jan. 18; avoid surprise tax bill, possible penalty
 

WASHINGTON − The IRS urges taxpayers to check into their options to avoid being subject to estimated tax penalties, which apply when someone underpays their taxes. Taxpayers who paid too little tax during 2021 can still avoid a surprise tax-time bill and possible penalty by making a quarterly estimated tax payment now, directly to the Internal Revenue Service. The deadline for making a payment for the fourth quarter of 2021 is Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2022.

The hotlink from the IRS email is hot and will take you to the IRS website for electronic payment, which we HIGHLY suggest you use.

Between snail mail slowness and the tremendous IRS back logs, sending a check in the mail may lead to a very delayed payment an even a loss of payment which the IRS would frown upon.

1040 Estimated ES Quarter 3 2021 Tax Due Date Today!

Today is the due date for Quarter 3 2021 Estimated Taxes!

Between the last two years of jockeying the dates for regular returns and filings, and the odd timed ES filing (note below Q 2 is only a two month gap) if you have forgotten or are off on your days…. do not worry you are not alone.

While the postal system is getting better, as mentioned here it may be a good idea to file your ES both Federal and State Electronically!

This is the exact link to the Federal deposit site do not want bad guys jumping in front of your browser, make sure your browser gets to this link.

We know many of you are old fashion and want to send it via coupon and mail, no worries, just make sure it gets in the mail to be postmarked by tomorrow and use that handy cell phone as your scanner and take picture of the coupon, check and envelope for proof if there is a delay!

For those of you that need to pay in estimated taxes, this is your friendly reminder…

Payment Due Dates:

4th payment …………….. Jan. 15, 2020*

* You don’t have to make the payment due January 15,
2020, if you file your 2019 tax return by January 31, 2020,
and pay the entire balance due with your return.

Post Tennis Travels

This week, the largest Texas Tennis Tournament of the Year occurred in a small and people-crushed into, West Texas Town (with VERY bad internet- I digress) … 984 players (not including parents) squashing themselves on courts, grocery stores, restaurants, and any place that was available… EVERYONE … present party included, GLAD TO BE THERE AS LONG AS POSSIBLE … AS IT IS WIN OR GO HOME …. next week, the family is happily off for a quick break in a quiet place before the next tournament which is more normal … a long Weekend  (summer brings the most tournaments of the year).

Always lightly tethered electronically!
