Friday Labor Day Weekend – Office Hours – Hurricane Harvey wishes

This coming Labor Day Holiday Monday represents the unofficial end of summer to some, my gang, as mentioned last week feel freedom was lost this week, with school starting this most recent Monday.

  • Many Pools Closedfootball-1-1551755
  • Full schedules to start
  • Homework, homework, homework
  • Shorter lighted days — yikes

BUT… are you ready for fall sports !

Capital Markets, as well as our office, will be closed on Monday, in honor of labor day.

Hurricane Harvey

We are sending our best wishes to all those friends, families and clients displace by Hurricane Harvey! We are happy to report Donald “The Brain” has had minimal damage up to this point and is safe and sound. We do have relatives and friends back in the new path and wish them safety and well being…

Given the devastation it looks to be years of rebuilding. Many blessings and well wishes!

Once again a test of the resilience of our country that will certainly be endured but will be collaborative as we regroup and rebuild!

Have a great Friday and long weekend!

Smart or Silly Markets ? …. Football …

We are just not sure what happened at the beginning of the year….

  • China Concerns
  • Interest Rate concerns
  • Slowing Global Growth
  • Silly market participants

After a record breaking negative start to the year ….all is better now…?

Small Company US Stocks Storm Back

The following chart of the Russell 2000 (Small US Company Stocks) is a show of fantastic resilience….

9-7-16-russell-2k

From top to bottom, that was a 28% drop… heck lets call it a 30% correction .. most of which has been recovered…. Wonder if this steep of a drop has occurred before without a clear crisis or recession ? Hey Donald the Brain… Can you let us know ?

Things getting better … “Smart Market“… or things no different… just a “Silly Market” ? Time will tell…

NEVER GO ALL IN OR ALL OUT !

Football

Ok, so truth be known, football season has already started. A collegiate upset weekend occurred last weekend and the NFL first Thursday night game was last night…

Good Luck to all… be careful when traveling near working venues…. Enjoy the games !

Talk to you next week !

5 Positive Events this Week!

For those of you who did not notice, we left out the “Financial” part of our headline this week as it was a short work week, and we wanted to broaden our thinking a bit, but positives still abound. Our first positive this week was created in-house, by you, the reader, so thanks very much:

In our fun, Tuesday/Monday week starter post, Unclaimed Money, we had multiple findings, and the search continues: With multiple claims collectively approaching $2000, we were very happy and surprised by the prompt finds. If you have close relatives, feel free to check for them and forward the information for their collection as well.

Sports Fans Clapped as Football Season commenced: Late last week, and mid this week college and pro football seasons kicked off, giving fans (present party included) positive energy and the feeling that fall has actually arrived. We positively wish good luck and health to all players and a healthy healing to those who are injured.

World Bank Says US will not have a recession: In a confident speech across the pond, the World Bank leader Robert Zoellick said he expected the US NOT to go into a recession. Thanks Robert, for the positive comments, we hope to return the positive comments from our side.

German Constitutional Court Upholds EU Funding: Think US Supreme Court for comparisons, on Wednesday early am US time, the German court upheld the constitutionality of German funding of the EU rescue. This was a huge positive, however the court laid the grounds for an “ask us first next time” as they requested pre-approval for more measures in the future, yet overall a strong positive.

Schools Going Green: As school is officially “back in session” US News is reporting over 600 schools have taken the digital leap and are using tablets in lieu of text books. We applaud this green positive and the preparation it is giving the future leaders of our economy.

Another week, another slew of positives!

Have a great day and a nice weekend!
