I wanted to again thank everyone for the super support on the D Magazine nomination. Everyone was so nice with congratulations — I very much appreciate it !! You guys are all the best — Ok– getting mushy!!
Having a family favorite Holiday Party on a Saturday night should make for an interesting evening.
Be safe to all !
For new readers, one of the family’s favorite holiday’s is Halloween (present party partially excluded) – Costumes regularly start assembly in August –
This is my 8 year old’s costume :
For me, I always try to go as a Financial Planner with little success – This year– allegedly I have been pre-assigned “The Hulk” but have yet to spot any green paint, so maybe I am safe !
As the sugar wears off, be sure to turn those clocks back. Like the extra hour, hate the earlier darkness… it is what it is !!
Have a Safe and Super Friday and Boooo Weekend !

Ever wake up in the middle of the night stirring of something in your life? You toss and turn, grumble, and finally get angry because you cannot go back to sleep as this issue/problem seems so insurmountable? (If you said no, pat yourself on the back, you are lucky)
You wake the next morning only to chuckle at how silly the worry was, and how you can easily conquer this problem/issue.
Maybe it is Halloween, or season change… who knows, but once again, October made for the middle of the night sleepless concern as capital markets gyrated, only to finally awaken to the fact that they are seasonally entering the best months of the calendar, as reminded here and here.
Not to worry, we have you covered …
As mentioned a bit early, after reading the congratulatory letter (letter asked to hold off on announcement until this week … oops, never saw that before), this week the “Formal Edition” of the Magazine hit the racks even with a mug of yours truly.
So this is the official announcement:
“John was honored and flattered to be nominated as one of D Magazines Top Planners for an Eighth consecutive time!”
… much better!
Somehow they managed to sneak my mug and bio on the very last page of the entire section …. hand slap for early announcement? Ok …that’s fine, sorry guys.
Oh, of course K is the new Z in the alphabet! No matter, we appreciate the notoriety, congratulations fellow winners, most of which I know personally, are good professionals, and stand up folks.
Long time readers know today is the Mrs. absolute favorite celebratory day (last year pic) of the year. She says it’s the candy, I think it’s really the dress up. This costume which has been on and off since September, yes that early, is our recent Birthday boy (not me for those who also spied this picture on another popular public site … I promise) shows the family enthusiasm. Wish homework was completed that early!
If you want a reason to spend time with those special in your life, how about this, tomorrow night is clock change time. Seems like yesterday we were moving time to a more light evening. Don’t forget to spend … and oh yaa, move those clocks back too!
Have a Spooky Safe Halloween and a good weekend!

We hope you all had a fun and safe Halloween. As promised, Halloween being a family favorite, I have attached a picture at the bottom of this post to humor you into the weekend.
Today “The Brain” Donald Capone is in the house once again for a very quick turnaround CFA Institute event. We will both be out of the office for most of the day due to this event.
Next week brings our Video summary review for October…Wow… this year continues to go quickly, some interesting news on why we joined NAPFA (National Association of Personal Financial Advisors), the official Holiday Party Invite, among a few other items (26.2 on deck.)
Ahhh…but that is next week, and today is a Friday heading into a weekend. Enjoy yours, thanks for reading our writings, and do not forget to spend time with those special in your life.
Have a Great Day and a Super Weekend !

http://www.jkfinancialinc.com http://www.street-cents.com 8222 Douglas Ave # 590 Dallas, TX 75225 Here is your Picture!!In an “Oh, thank goodness” moment, Angela Merkel received the votes necessary AND kept reasonable control.
As mentioned Friday, Angela Merkel was voted to continue another term over the weekend, and while we have no major skin in the game our quest for stability and lack of destabilization was continued with a Merkel victory.
It is hard to believe that the end of the third quarter of 2013 is just a few business days away. While it has been a very interesting one, market extension without fundamental footing has added a bit of risk to the equation…but you knew that already as we have spoken many times about this.
Have a Great Monday!

PS The all time favorite holiday of my family is Halloween…last year the request for approval to begin decorating in September was “ok” d by me with a you only have one item this early. Much to my surprise, over 90 spiders were placed in our home, while the calendar still read September. This year the question was not even asked, as such the zombies, rats, spiders and ghosts are staging through our yard, on their way to the tree, starting last night!

Some days we awake feeling slightly less than 100%, who knows why, but it happens. We detect a similar feeling in the capital markets at the moment. Possibly earnings season, or maybe fatigue, no matter the reason, the capital markets, at least for the moment, are feeling cranky. We will see how long this goes on. (We have been expecting this for some time.)
Earnings season (aka 90 day treadmill) thus far has not been bad. We are pleasantly surprised, however the next two weeks are the fire hose of reports and we will have a better picture with more data. We will keep you updated.
The darn spelling cookie jar received another $10 yesterday as I mistakenly used Mean for Median in the last post, not to worry, it is fixed and my pocket is slightly lighter..haha (I completed that post at 4:30 am…must not have been completely awake…grrrrrr)
Here at home the weekend brings a long run and preparation for a late week travel schedule next week (out Thursday and Friday) as the family continues to get excited about Halloween.
Have a great weekend and enjoy the season change…here in Dallas it was almost 90 yesterday…what fall?

Today marks the end of the quarter and the start of the run to the Holiday season, historically the best for capital markets. While we are hopeful for continued progress in capital markets we are skeptical to say the least.
This quarter’s Newsletter is coming along. Kathy our editor always amazes in turning a somewhat rough yard into a masterpiece. With a very long article on Big Ben and a critical assessment of the current economic environment we think you will like our analysis of possible outcomes (nonpolitical.)
Donald is in town today for an out of the office event and makes his usual whirlwind tour, 7:00 am airport pick up and 3:30 pm departure, thank goodness for quick entrance and exits at Love Field.
Enjoy your Friday and Weekend!
JK
PS One of the Kvale’s (Pamela) most celebrated holidays is Halloween. After finally acquiescing to ONLY ONE item, spiders (we are not even to October yet?) we are the proud house on the block with 13 spiders outside on the front of the house and another 30 or so inside …. okay…mix a skeleton or two in there…..overkill….

Heavy Week Concludes … Month End … Family Favorite Coming … Friday …
With two heavy posts this week, here and here and not only were they heavy, but they were about the FOMC (Federal Open Market Committee), Interest Rates, CPI (Consumer Price Index) and the Trimmed Mean Inflation measures…. Y.A.W.N for many!
Ya Ya we know you guys may not find this stuff as interesting as we do, but we like to at least let you know what we are watching and call attention to some of this so as to know what may or may not change or cause issues… thanks for the reading this week….
Month End Coming
With the afore mentioned heavy posts and month end coming along with two Video reviews shortly (Newsletter and September) we thought we could slide into the weekend as it is a Friday….
Speaking of Month End…. this brings a family favorite into view OCTOBER which means HALLOWEEEN … (over week ago of rats, pumpkins and a Crow that keeps falling of the front rail of the entry at the house already set up for the occasion) – not kidding – ok so yours truly has become fond of the warmer months along with the long days…. but occasionally the guard is let down….. the Mrs. and Myself from a few years ago ….
Hope at least got a chuckle …. Green Make Up stuck around for weeks
Next week, back to heavy … and lot’s to talk about …
Today is a Friday … Enjoy your weekend and see you next week!
