Tax Form Updates – Tax Return Update … So far so good … Rainy Friday

Today a round of Corrected 1099’s are due to show up electronically (not out as of this writing yet) and will automatically be mailed to those of us lucky ones…. Again, you have been notified last week if you were on the corrected list…

Any totally new folks receiving a corrected that were not notified last week?  We will reach out to you … we do not expect any more TOTALLY  new corrected folks ….

We are very happy to announce that the first few tax returns (1040’s) have come through, and they look good (refunds or not paying as much as in years past!)

We hope we are not jinxing ourselves by announcing this so early but wanted to share in the excitement!

There will be some disappointments we are certain, but so far so good!

Cybercriminals 4 …. John 0… Funny Story

After warning of several cybercrime attempts here, here and here. And even more recently the story of 100k tax returns lost by the IRS , the latest chapter of the cybercrime puzzle arrived in my mailbox over the weekend.

Turbo Tax Asks for their MoneyCybercrime

A nice form letter arrived in my mailbox over the latest weekend stating I owed Turbo Tax money for their software as the “refund” was not enough to cover the cost. Nope, had not used their software!

Gotta hand it to the cybercriminals, if your going to do it, go all in!

Before I even explained to the representative at Turbo Tax why I was calling, the nice lady on the other end of the line said “This was a fraud right?”  “Ya,  How did you know?” According to her this was a very common problem lately.

Keep your guards up!

Actually a funny story if you think about it .. Fraudulent filing, using fraud to get the software to do the fraud … Wow .. certainly creative!

Good bye “Official” Tax Season … One More Request from us … Friday !

Whew…. it’s officially over…. yaa there will be extension filings (myself included), but for the most part we are DONE !!!!Goodbye

A Request From Us

Before you toss that tax return in the file to collect dust, until next year or maybe longer … PLEASE DO US A FAVOR … Send us a copy.

Taxes and Wills/Estate documents are our most used items.  We review both frequently. With the changing tax laws and certainly more to come, a base line of where we are today is super. If we have your return we can plan better and you will not have to dash to that file if a copy is needed…we can quickly access it electronically!

Thanks very much to most who we already have a copy, but those few who we do not … SEND US A COPY !!!!!

Friday … Spring Friday

Due to the afore-mentioned tax season, Cathy has been off for the last couple of days … Well Done Cathy!!

Next week is back to normal as we are in the midst of earnings seasons (AKA 90 day treadmill) AHHHH….but that is next week..
