“Job Losses Are Worst in 30 Years” Headlines across America will read tomorrow! But Wait …

The headlines across america will read similar to what we have written above. By no means are we discounting this news, this is negative news, and we are not saying that it is not.

Before jumping to conclusions please take into account our population and workforce thirty years ago. The numbers we see today are not adjusted for our growing population.

According to the BLS or Bureau of Labor Statistics the Civilian Labor Force as of 1978 was 102 million and as of the beginning of this year that number was 154 million or almost 50% greater.

Bottom line, while 533k is a large number of job losses is it still much smaller as a percentage than that of thirty years ago. JK
