Over the past several weeks we have listened diligently to numerous company conference calls in order to better understand what is going on with companies and the economy in general. A window is still open for many.
This recession has been dramatic in both depth and speed gaining notice world wide in the September 2008 time frame, and really picking up negative speed through the end of 2008 and early 2009. Company management teams moved swiftly to lower costs both through headcount (higher unemployment numbers) and blowing out of inventory (big discounts.) Both effective ways to counter the recession using nimble frugal spending strategies.
The time may be now for individuals to also use frugal spending strategies by taking advantage of the remaining discounts.
If the economy continues to pick up speed it is likey consumers will not see the dramatic discounts in both retail and travel they have experienced over the last 10 months.
Grab your Holiday gifts sooner rather than later, and book your planned vacations for next year (please don’t take this as a green light to take an extra vacation, just planned) today while companies are still offering discounts.
This is not an all clear to heat up your credit card, only a way to diligently make purchases today, at a possible great discount that you would have made anyway at a later date. JK
