As many of you know we had very heavy rain here in Dallas yesterday from around 10 am until about 1 pm. Our office electricity grid, for several square blocks, were knocked out for about two hours. Just as a reminder we have a disaster recovery system that allows us to continue working without stoppage. Our main phone system can be re-directed at a moments notice. With today’s technology we can easily get web access from many points with very little delay. Much of the procedures were set up, and have been updated after the 9/11 attacks. It was nice to know we had many alternatives yesterday, as while it was a calm day, and we were only out of pocket for a short time, this may not always be the case.
In the near future we plan to have a more resilient web page that will be updated in such an event. For the immediate time being, we would ask you to view the blog as it is much easier to update at this time.
Lastly, as we head into the weekend we get the sense a partial summer doldrums is occurring. Currently earnings releases are still a few weeks out, and many in the investment community are taking off early. While we hope this leads to a boring day, much like a ship without a rudder, if something major were to occur, the markets may turn dramatically in a direction without much outside steering. Have a good weekend! JK
