Thought we would share another interesting travel story. – You cannot make these up!
Many of you are road warriors, but we also know many are not.
In this adventure literally the airplane circled the airport destination at approximately midnight only to jettison off to a neighboring airport … pull up to the non destination gate that was under construction at approximately 1:00 AM on a weekend night, think crickets in the hallways.
A group of well over 100 exit the plane and are told “Good Luck” and handed a small postage sized card that had refund policies and contact information on it!
Luckily a short stroll across the street garnered a vacancy at the hotel and about five hours of sleep were accumulated… Cost less than $150…
Upon waking, the luck continued… a Rental Car was available AND the small original destination airport also had the same rental company! Four and a half hours later, the rental car was returned for a whopping $89 charge – we rent a lot of cars and get great rates… as mentioned here in our OTHER story!
Upon returning the car to the original destination airport a stroll to the check in gate out of curiosity garnered a long line of people who turned to me – “I was the one circling last night at Midnight above us!” Gate attendant “Oh, wow very sorry about the mix up! Did you know they rescheduled a flight from the other airport to here?” A quick glance to the board noted that flight was also delayed and was eventually cancelled six hours later in the late afternoon!
Moral of the story- There are several!
Don’t get mad
Expect Delays
Small regionals are often cancelled – but are so very handy worth every minute of it!
Carry necessities (Toothpaste etc with you)
Keep your Cell charged
Will let you know how the refund policy goes… For the record, an AI request garnered a nice easy to follow method to get the refund and a company policies… More to come on this as the expenses have just recently settled!
