Google is great, but DO NOT use it for searching for a specific website address! Second Clever Cell Text in two weeks – Be Careful!

J.K. Financial, Inc. Cell Text and Cyber Update Reminder

The headline may be a bit confusing, but just give me a second to explain….

When you are headed to a specific website, type the website in the address bar…

Here is an example, if you want to go to Amazon, type http://www.amazon.com – Stay away from searching Amazon in your google search bar from whatever browser you are in i.e. Chrome, Firfox, Safari… Not to even mention the incorrect bank or the like address!!

We know (have had personal experience) a spoof website can jump in front of the real one occasionally, next thing you know, credentials, or even worse a payment method is being grabbed by the bad guys!!

Incorrect – Try to stay away from this type of website search

Correct – A few seconds more, but safer!

With our anecdotal limited sample size, when we get two very good, very similar, and confusing spam situations in two weeks, we SPEAK UP!

Here is the setup:

You receive a Text to your Cell …

Your cell is either frozen or you cannot delete the text ! Yikes

Do not click on anything in the text, do not call or do anything the text is requesting – Its a scam!

Turn your phone off!

If you phone boots back up with the text, reach out to the youngest person in the family – Half Kidding here, but likely true!

Just do not mess with this new super strong spam text… something new may be on the horizon!

An infographic titled "Boost Your Cyber Safety Today! 3 Essential Tips to Protect Your Digital Life." A hand holds a smartphone displaying two browser examples: typing a web address directly into the URL bar is marked with a green "Correct" checkmark, while searching for a URL in a search engine is marked with a red "Incorrect" X. A warning bubble next to the phone features a phishing hook icon and says, "Watch out for Scam Texts! Do NOT Click." In the bottom right, an icon of gears and a download arrow is accompanied by the text, "Software Updates: Keep Your Devices Updated and Patched Regularly!" The bottom left corner features the text "Cyber Safe Blog" against a light blue background with faint digital circuits and padlock icons.

Complete updates – They are patches to keep bad guys away

In closing, one of the most important items of Cyber safety you can complete, is continuous updates!!!

I know, I totally know… every time you do one, stuff is different and hard to find! It is worth the hassle, safe over sorry … remember the patches are for a reason, and the crooks know that when a patch is needed, THERE IS AN OPENING!

Update and patch your tech continuously!

Have a Great ” Another Cyber Reminder” Day!
