Break In : At the writing of this post it appears there will be a Government shutdown… Some interesting stats via our research team from yesterday early am morning call… This type of shutdown amounts to a .04% per day drag on GDP. With an estimated GDP of 2-3% even a small time frame shutdown could lead to a sizable Economic take down! We found this interesting, hence the mention!

A man in a suit looks confused while thinking about a piggy bank. In the background, furloughed federal employees protest with signs.

Financial Planning Tip(s)

Charitable Donations Now/2025 v 2026

In our recent article here, a reminder as we near the end of year 2025 – Wow has this gone fast or what…. we talk about the new .5% floor on most all Donations starting in 2026!

If you are on the edge of making a Donation now or next year – consider making it now

Starting in 2026 there will be a .5% floor/hurdle before counting towards your deduction on your taxes

Do not do this now if you were not planning, only if you were on the fence between years

This will not effect your Charitable Donations from IRA for RMD requirements.

Capital Market Comments

Market Update – Powell Lowers SHORT term rates – Long term rates move up

Portrait of a middle-aged man in a suit with a serious expression, background featuring a dark textured surface.

Jerome Powell did in fact lower rates … as mentioned here in the immediate after math rates climbed.

This from last months summary-

“…..as mentioned in our post here, the rub is CPI is not cooperating – from the post “…CPI – (Consumer Price Index) – (Feds Goal is around 2%) – This was all good and headed the correct direction until lately and looks to be headed higher…” …..”

So far rates have moved up on the longer end of the curve….grrrr….think Mortgage rates! We have better expectations as the calendar turns.

Have a Great Day talk to You at the end of October!
